9th Month - Before Lightenig

This illustration was part of a series of 13 large-scale images for the book, With Child,  depicting the milestones of pregnancy for Childbirth Graphics, a subdivision of WRS Group Inc. The originals were all done in airbrush and color pencil within a three month period. We had an aggressive timeline and two other illustrators, Kent Boughton, CMI and Karen Martin created other support illustrations.

The objective of this illustration is to show the fetus at full-term, before lightening- when the baby shifts down into the pelvis two weeks prior to birth. Emphasis is on the normal position of the child at this stage with adjacent organs and the breasts which enlarge due to increased production of colostrum.
